Small Vintage Chinese Ginger Jar Mille Fleur Style

About the Item

A small porcelain ginger jar, crafted in China during the 1980s. Hand-painted with the bright and colorful Chinese 'Mille Fleur' style, meaning 'Thousand Flowers'. This vibrant style is characterized by a dense tapestry of blooming flowers: peonies, chrysanthemums, and roses. each colored in an array of bright enamel tones and set against a contrasting backdrop of lush green foliage. Originating in the late Yongzheng period at the end of the 18th century, this colorful porcelain style quickly gained popularity during the Qianlong reign. Symbolizing 'all the flowers bestow their blessings', the floral design has evolved over time. Initially, the flowers were small and the patterns dense; later versions became bolder and more expressive This vintage porcelain ginger jar comes stamped with a 'Made in China' insignia to its base, which dates to the 1990s.
