Classic Aldo Londi Bitossi ceramic vase from the Rimini blue range. A gorgeous Mid-century modern retro classic, with really nice glazing, the colors are what makes these vases so special shades of blue, green and turquise contrasted with imprinted geometric details. The shape is simple, but it is all the patterns and the colors that makes it very special and useful in any interior decoration. It is 17.5cm (6.88") high and 10cm (3.93") in diameter and in a very good condition, the base is not fully circular, from the production, yet overall is this vase of a fantastic condition with no chips or cracks in glazing. The price includes free shipping. Bitossi In 2021, Bitossi celebrated 100 years. This year, 2021. It is 100 years of modern ceramic tradition and design. The Bitossi Ceramiche factory is located in Montelupo Fiorentino and was founded by Guido Bitossi in 1921. Bitossi has a long history, consisting of creativity and business strategies with fantastic craftsmen, potters and designers. Bitossi's heir to the factory "Maioliche artistiche Guido Bitossi" continues the production which is in line with its characteristic and classic style. During the 1950s the company developed, Bitossi had a legendary artistic director in Aldo Londi, a man with an innate creative and aesthetic sense, and a keen eye for the changes in taste and the uniqueness of Italian Products. Aldo Londi started at Bitossi in 1946 and from that time was the undisputed main character for more than fifty years, first as a painter, then as an artistic director and finally as a tireless researcher of styles and examples that would be imitated by many other ceramic workshops. Artistic management at Bitossi focused on modern and contemporary interior design especially during the 1960s and 70s. About Bitossis Aldo Londi - Short facts Aldo Londi was born in Montelupo, Tuscany outside Florence, Italy, in 1911. He started working for a ceramics producer when he was 11 years old. After being imprisoned in South Africa during World War II, he returned to Italy and in 1946 was appointed artistic director at Bitossi. He held that position for over 50 years and created thousands of patterns for vases, jugs, animals, candlesticks and other objects.

The company was incorporated by Guido Bitossi in 1921, though the family began making art pottery in the mid-19th century. In the 1930s, Londi came aboard, bringing with him a mindset that respected time-honored craft, yet looked also to the future. On the one hand, Londi’s perspective fostered the making of Bitossi’s popular whimsical animal figures, hand-shaped and -carved and finished in a rich azure glaze known as “Rimini Blue.” But with his other hand, Londi reached out to thoughtful, experimental designers such as Sottsass.
