Raymond Pettibon, Marcel Dzama: Let Us Compare Mythologies, this rare limited edition artist book/ zine was published on the occasion of Pettibon & Dzama’s exhibition at David Zwirner, London, in October 2016. The book uniquely includes a large fold-out poster of ‘It is big big business’ - featuring Pettibon surfers immersed in gigantic waves amidst Dzama’s illustrations of outlandish characters. The title, Let Us Compare Mythologies is an homage to musician Leonard Cohen.

About Raymond Pettibon (American b. 1957):
Having emerged from the Southern California DIY culture and its punk-rock sensibility, Raymond Pettibon fuses together youthful edginess and political engagement. Drawing from disparate cultural sources—from Marcel Proust to the Bible—the artist’s cartoon-inspired ink drawings on unframed paper recall the look of fanzines and concert flyers, however with an often cryptic semblance of narrative. More recently, Pettibon’s works have been a sustained critique of the Iraq War and American foreign policy, such as No Title ("Why press him?") (2007), which depicts George W. Bush with bloodied hands and surrounded by pointed, ironic commentary. Pettibon was a recipient of the Whitney's Bucksbaum award in 2004.

About the Artist: Banksy (British, born 1974) is a contemporary street artist and activist who, despite his international fame, has maintained an anonymous identity. Aimed as a form of cultural criticism, the artist often targets established social and political agendas with his witty illustrations produced with stencils and spray paint in cities such as New Orleans, New York, and Paris. “The art world is the biggest joke,” he said. “It’s a rest home of the over privileged, the pretentious, and the weak.” Although details of the artist’s life are largely unknown, it is thought that Banksy was born in Bristol, United Kingdom, c. 1974, starting his career as a graffiti artist in the city. Better Out Than In, Banksy’s month-long residency in New York during October 2013, featured a man hawking the artist’s paintings for $60 a piece outside Central Park. In 2015, Banksy opened Dismaland Bemusement Park, a temporary art exhibition that functioned as a theme park. After a 36-day run, its workers and materials were sent to the Calais migrant camp in France to build additional housing. Among the artist's most famous stunts include his shredded painting: When a painting by Banksy was sold at auction for $1.4 million in 2018, a mechanism was triggered to cause the artwork to partially destroy itself, resulting in a new piece titled Love in the Bin (2018). Hand-coloured portrait of a regal monarch, immobilised in marble, her reigning celebrated the blooms she becomes entwined in. The characterisation is inspired by visual depictions of Lady Macbeth, in particular, John Singer Sargent’s 1889 portrait of actress Ellen Terry.
Taken from The Sialia Marbles, a series of portraits containing ephemeral human sculptures taken between 2016-19. Together these works act as tales contained in a fictional sculpture hall, in direct reaction to Andre Malraux’s 1947 Le Musee Imaginaire (Museum Without Walls).

"Biography. Nelson DOMÍNGUEZ.
Born: 1947, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.
Studies: 1970 National School of Art, Cuba.
Experience: 1970 - 1985 Professor National School of Art, Cuba. He has been Professor of Painting and Engraving and Head of the Painting Department of the Higher Institute of Art (ISA). Member of the Union of Writers of Cuba and the International Association of Plastic Artists.
Awards: Among the awards and recognitions that the Cuban artist received: Order for the National Culture, Cuba; Order Alejo Carpentier, Cuba; Diploma and Order of Honor from the Fuji Museum, Japan. In 1972, he received the National Prize at the International Painting Festival in Cagnes-sur-mer, France; 1976 Grand Prize, International Biennial of Wood Engraving, Banska Bystrika, Czechoslovakia and Painting Prize, Triennial of Committed Realist Art, Sofia, Bulgaria; Honor Prize, Graphic Biennial, India, as well as at the Jaime Guasch Biennial in Barcelona, Spain.
Exhibitions In summary, exhibitions of personalities. In 1983 he made the exhibition ""Retrospective (10 years of professional work)"" at the National Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts of Cuba, in 1984 at the Francoise Tournie Gallery in Paris; in 1985 he did it in the National Welfare Organization of Athens, Greece and in 1986 in the Gallery del l 'Incisione in Venice, Italy. During the eighties and nineties his work was shown in Brazil, Italy, Puerto Rico, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the United States, Cuba and Mexico. In 2001, an individual exhibition was held at the Hotel Trip Cayo Coco in Cuba.
Collections: Many of his works are exhibited in the Los Oficios Studio Gallery, Old Havana, Cuba and in the collections of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, Merugo Museum of Japan; Herbeat F.
