David Shrigley Art
Anglais, b. 1968
David Shrigley est né le 17 septembre 1968 à Macclesfield, dans le Cheshire, et a grandi à Oadby, dans le Leicestershire. Il a suivi le cours de base d'art et de design à l'école polytechnique de Leicester en 1987, avant d'étudier l'art environnemental à la Glasgow School of Art en 1988, où il est resté jusqu'en 1991. Pendant ses études, Shrigley a travaillé comme guide de galerie au Centre for Contemporary Arts à Glasgow.
Shrigley a organisé plusieurs expositions personnelles remarquables pour son art visuel emblématique, notamment "David Shrigley" à Dundee Contemporary Arts (2006), "Everything Must Have a Name" au Malmo Konsthall en Suède (2007), une exposition au Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art à Gateshead (2008), au Museum Ludwig à Cologne (2008), "New Powers" au Kunsthalle Mainz en Allemagne (2009), au Kelvingrove Museum à Glasgow (2010) et "Animate" au Turku Art Museum en Finlande (2011).
En 2016, les œuvres de Shrigley ont fait partie d'une exposition itinérante British Council. Le même mois, il a été présenté lors de l'événement Liverpool Provocations. Shrigley a été nommée pour le prix Turner 2013 et a reçu un OBE dans la liste des honneurs de la Reine pour le nouvel an 2020. Shrigley est collectionnée par la Stephen Friedman Gallery (Londres), l'Anton Kern Gallery (New York), le Museum of Modern Art (New York), le Tate (Londres) et le Royal Academy of Arts (Londres), entre autres institutions.
