Rare vintage 1986 sticker illustrated by Keith Haring for the CityKids coalition in New York: "City Kids Speak on Liberty" New York, 1986 sponsored by Burger King. Offset printed sticker featuring a Classic Keith Haring statue of Liberty illustration. Measures approximately: 4 x 6 inches. Unused and in very good condition. Features Haring printed signature on mid right edge. From an edition of unknown. Literature/References: Keith Haring: Posters (Prestel). Further background: "Since our first collaboration in 1986 partnering more than 1,000 CityKids with Keith Haring (who later designed our logo) to create an 30 x 90 foot banner calling for ‘Freedom for All’ for the bicentennial celebration of The Statue of Liberty. CityKids has spent the last three decades committed to making sure the voices of young people are heard in the most positive and powerful ways possible; annually reaching more than 100,000 young people worldwide through our youth-driven messages; communicated through performances, workshops, and the media." Numbered on the interior last page from an edition of 500. 2) Let Us Compare Mythologies is from the ongoing collaborations between artists Raymond Pettibon and his friend Marcel Dzama, and was published on the occasion of the artists’ exhibition at David Zwirner, London, in October 2016. Includes a fold-out poster of ‘It is big big business’. Featuring Pettibon’s depictions of surfers immersed in gigantic waves intertwined with Dzama’s illustrations of outlandish characters. About Raymond Pettibon (American b. 1957) Having emerged from the Southern California DIY culture and its punk-rock sensibility, Raymond Pettibon fuses together youthful edginess and political engagement. Drawing from disparate cultural sources—from Marcel Proust to the Bible—the artist’s cartoon-inspired ink drawings on unframed paper recall the look of fanzines and concert flyers, however with an often cryptic semblance of narrative. More recently, Pettibon’s works have been a sustained critique of the Iraq War and American foreign policy, such as No Title ("Why press him?") (2007), which depicts George W. Bush with bloodied hands and surrounded by pointed, ironic commentary. Pettibon was a recipient of the Whitney's Bucksbaum award in 2004.
