Günther Kieser Art

Günther Kieser is one of Germany’s most important graphic designers. He was the go-to man for music posters in the 1960s, from Jimi Hendrix to the Grateful Dead and The Who. The retired, 87-year-old designer has never had a retrospective, until now. His poster designs were notably featured in MoMa's 1988. A retrospective entitled “Kieser Posters” recently opened at the Bröhan Museum in Berlin in 2017.

By Jim Dine
Located in New York, NY
JIM DINE This is How I Remember Now (Hand Signed), 2008 Offset Lithograph Poster for exhibition of photographs by Jim Dine 32 × 24 inches Signed boldly in white marker by Jim Dine on the front Unframed Published by: Det Kongelige Bibliotek, Denmark Provenance: Jim Dine personally signed it for the present owner in 2012 at a special poetry reading that the artist gave at the Dia Art Foundation. Extremely rare when hand signed! This poster was produced in conjunction with a 2008 German exhibition of Jim Dine's photographs. Jim Dine personally signed it for the present owner in 2012 at a poetry reading that the artist gave at the Dia Art Foundation, so provenance is direct and impeccable. Gunther Kieser Bossa Nova do Brasil poster 1966
By Günther Kieser
Located in NEW YORK, NY
Bossa Nova do Brasil by Gunther Kieser 1966: Keiser's extraordinary posters are the result of creating images from solid forms, like sculpture or collage, which he then photographs. A great music lover, he was fortunate to become associated with impresarios determined to expand Germany's festivals and concerts beyond old world sounds. He more than met the challenge. Here, his photograph of an open black hand painted with bright swirls suggests the exciting, seductive rhythms of the Carnival in Rio. Offset lithograph, 1966. Measures: 33 x 47 inches Minor signs of handling; otherwise very good condition for its age First printing, 1966.
