About the Item
Artist Comments
Part of artist Scott Dykema's series of the majestic bison. Mist clears in the dead of the night as an eye emerges from within wisps of bright vivid clouds. In the foreground, the bison wears an intricate patterned cloak and glances at the viewer. It makes its way down a path of glimmering gold and green pasture while birds fly beneath the stars surrounding the omniscient eye. "The eye that sees all and knows all. A source of wisdom. A guiding force."
About the Artist
Scott works out of a 1947 Chevrolet school bus that is parked permanently in his Texas backyard. His highly expressionistic, figurative work is reminiscent of contemporary street art, largely due to the inclusion of spray paint in his arsenal of media. Scott is inspired by images he comes across in books or in daily life. His bold statement pieces demonstrate artful yet fanciful interpretations of world cultures. Each painting, through its dynamic layers of color and metallics, presents a story that awaits the imaginative viewer.

Scott Dykema
American artist Scott Dykema paints surreal scenes and subjects in bold, visceral colors that are ingrained with improvised textures and an otherworldly perspective that evokes Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Animals, drawn with sharp, unusual patterns on their bodies, are portrayed in peculiar poses as they stand before alien backdrops of contrasting neons, pastels and earth tones. Dykema’s work tells the story of another place and another reality, one with only the faintest resemblance to our own.
Possessing a strong appreciation for the primordial, Dykema draws inspiration from cultures that revere nature, something reflected in the sense of spirituality in his work. He layers different materials — like ink, spray paint, acrylic and varnish — to create dynamic surfaces that enhance the surroundings of his extraordinary subjects.
Dykema graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Arlington. While there, he apprenticed as an assistant to a decorative artist. In 2001, Dykema and his wife, Anna, opened a decorative painting business, Daydream Studios, located in Arlington, Texas. They collaboratively work on an array of private and public art commissions for homes and businesses in the Texas area.
When not working at Daydream Studios,he paints inside an old school bus that he converted into a makeshift studio. His solo work includes illustrating the popular children’s book Keep Dreaming, as well as creating fine art inspired by his imagination.
Dykema boasts clientele from around the United States and internationally. Prestigious publications, such as 360 West and Luxe, have showcased his art, as have many galleries in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

- Compass Rose, Original PaintingBy Carole MooreLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
This painting depicts the view from one of Carol Moore's regular morning walks on Bernal Hill in San Francisco. The work is part of her cargo ship series. In these pieces Carol embeds maps and guitar strings to show the music of our one world, and the exchange of ideas and materials that support our lives.About the Artist
Carole Moore works as a massage therapist and finds a lot of inspiration in her various clients. Art is something she needs to do - she feels irritated when she goes without painting for too long. Oftentimes, she sits on her feet while painting and does not notice they are asleep until she tries to get up. She enjoys spending time with her family, tending her garden and rock climbing. Carole currently lives in California, but was an exchange student in Mexico and Japan and was highly influenced by both cultures.Words that describe this painting: path, view, bay, water, sea, cargo ship, landscape, spring, vista, road, San Francisco, landscape, representational, mixed media artwork, blue

- Large Animal Wall Sculpture: 'Wormhole'By Gin StoneLocated in New York, NY'I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ecofeminism using fiber and mixed media constructions. My materials include hand-dyed commercially fished line and ghost gear, recycled and antique textiles, fabric printed with cyanotype emulsions and found objects. I change the existing surface of recognizable animals by creating a veneer of unexpected color and imagery. This forces the viewer to consider the shape more carefully by visually exploring its new topography. The creation process can be likened to painting with fiber (that has been tinted with hand-mixed dyes) on a three-dimensional canvas. Intense work is spent creating the eyes and ears to convey the emotion of each animal. I look to the work of Joan Mitchell and The Quilters of Gee’s Bend as inspiration for pattern and color, as well as charts, iconography, and satellite imaging.' -Gin Stone...Category

- Shopping Cart: 'The Great Resignation Baggage Cart, Emotional Baggage Cart'By Theda SandifordLocated in New York, NY'My Emotional Baggage Carts are vessels to dispose of racial trauma. The act of making, weaves the sting of macro and microaggressions into the cart, freeing me from these constraints. Each recovered shopping cart is unique, but they all are woven with upcycled materials like rope, paracord, grocery bags, rope lights, beads, fabric, and bottle caps. The cart is with a protective zip tie blanket to trap trauma and prevent its escape. For me, my Emotional Baggage Carts are a release, for you, they are an opportunity to look within and recognize any emotional baggage you, yourself may be carrying and release it.'
