About the Item
Artist Comments
In artist Scott Dykema's colorful piece, a colossal T-Rex storms past ocean waves. He collages old comic strips in the background and paints a rainbow with text reading "Thank You." Elements of street art prevail with the dynamic usage of bright-colored spray paint. Scott produces an ode to getting lost in the creative process, much adored by artists worldwide.
About the Artist
Artist Scott Dykema creates colorful mixed-media figurative works, reminiscent of contemporary street art. This is largely due to the inclusion of spray paint in his arsenal of tools. “There is an extreme love in putting something down onto a blank surface, committing to giving it new life and finishing it,†says Scott. His work comes from the constant desire to simply create. Drawing inspiration from the hues of the sky, books, images online, or even spots on the floor. Scott first started out studying nutrition and dietetics but veered into his ingenious creative side by the influence of an art teacher. He demonstrates fanciful interpretations of cultures through multiple layers, and oftentimes metallic elements. In each piece, he presents a story that awaits the imaginative viewer. Scott’s studio is a charming 1947 Chevy school bus parked permanently in his Texas backyard.

Scott Dykema
American artist Scott Dykema paints surreal scenes and subjects in bold, visceral colors that are ingrained with improvised textures and an otherworldly perspective that evokes Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Animals, drawn with sharp, unusual patterns on their bodies, are portrayed in peculiar poses as they stand before alien backdrops of contrasting neons, pastels and earth tones. Dykema’s work tells the story of another place and another reality, one with only the faintest resemblance to our own.
Possessing a strong appreciation for the primordial, Dykema draws inspiration from cultures that revere nature, something reflected in the sense of spirituality in his work. He layers different materials — like ink, spray paint, acrylic and varnish — to create dynamic surfaces that enhance the surroundings of his extraordinary subjects.
Dykema graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Arlington. While there, he apprenticed as an assistant to a decorative artist. In 2001, Dykema and his wife, Anna, opened a decorative painting business, Daydream Studios, located in Arlington, Texas. They collaboratively work on an array of private and public art commissions for homes and businesses in the Texas area.
When not working at Daydream Studios,he paints inside an old school bus that he converted into a makeshift studio. His solo work includes illustrating the popular children’s book Keep Dreaming, as well as creating fine art inspired by his imagination.
Dykema boasts clientele from around the United States and internationally. Prestigious publications, such as 360 West and Luxe, have showcased his art, as have many galleries in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

- "Ben-day Sophia 1" Mixed media, Acrylic, spray paint, pigment ink 36x28 canvasBy CeravoloLocated in Southampton, NY"Benday Sophia 1" pays tribute to those paintings that became the trademark of Ceravolo's unique and trend setting style of painting. His work is collected worldwide and is in many important collections including, Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Hugh Hefner and Prince Jefri of Brunei to name only a few. In addition to those, his paintings came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create 5 large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City. In this painting, Ceravolo has featured an image of his pop art painting of Sophia Loren, and combined it with a pattern of benday dots to create the basis of "Benday Sophia 1". He then paints his trademark brush strokes and textures on the canvas over the pop art portrait. Then, he paints the "floating" illusion that creates the 3d floating effect he is known for. The Canvas measures 36x28".Category
