Antique Chippendale Style Nutwood & Oak Side Table / Games Table W. Great Patina
Located in Lisse, NL
Amazing workmanship sidetable, also for unforgettable games of poker, bridge etc. If you are looking for a beautiful sidetable to grace your living space then this all handcrafted specimen from the earliest years of the 20th century could be flying your way soon. This remarkable table with its amazingly hand-carved details and superb claw feet is extra rare, because it is made in the Chippendale Style. And the craftsmanship that was put into creating this antique would make Thomas Chippendale himself proud. You will hardly ever find a Chippendale Style table (or any other antique table for that matter) with such stunningly hand-carved details and for them to be as good as new after one hundred years shows that former owners too understood the importance of and the respect that one should have for this quality made piece. Apart from some minor imperfections to the table top the entire exterior AND interior of this table could not be in better condition. Even the original, inlaid, green felt 'playing field' of this table is as close to perfect as possible. This rare antique is both elegant and stately at the same time and for it not to have a maker's name on it, is strange to say the least. Because of the design, the quality of the make and the beauty of the materials, we believe this piece can only have been made by one of the European top makers from that era. By first pulling the rear legs out and then folding the top, this Chippendale table can be turned into a beautiful games table with a fine felt surface. Have you also noticed the practical and mint condition, solid tiger oak compartment that appears when you pull out the hind legs? That is where you can keep your cards and chips and maybe some board games. When closed, this also is the perfect sidetable for displaying an antique clock...

Edwardian Satinwood Hand-Painted Metamorphic Game Table
Located in Chicago, IL
This magnificent Circa 1910 Edwardian Satinwood hand-painted game table displays signs of fine craftsmanship and ingenuity. From the 17th to the 19th Century, card and board games were means to socialize and gamble large sums of money among the wealthy. Game tables are an example of specialized furniture beautifully crafted by a skilled cabinetmaker for such clients. When not in use, the envelope top has such an elegant hand-painted floral design and fine maple inlay that makes it too lovely to conceal by placing anything on top. Closed, it can decorate any hallway or entryway. On casters, the table can be easily moved from room to room, which makes it very versatile. The maple inlay detail continues the sides and drawers, showing no detail of elegance was spared. Once you swivel the top, it opens to a flat green felt surface for playing cards. It has a rosewood and satinwood parquetry chessboard and cribbage board that pulls out in the front with brass knobs. The interior is a mahogany drawer with compartments for the storage of play pieces. The chess pieces are ivory. The right side opens to a hidden compartment with a built-in tantalus accompanied by three fine crystal decanters, perfect for pouring a drink before a game. The left side is a dummy drawer to symmetrically continue the aesthetics of the design to its entirety. As a commissioned piece of work, this museum-quality piece is perfect for any collector or connoisseur of rare, one-of-a-kind antiques. Comes with three crystal decanters and game pieces shown are included: a complete ivory chess set...

Antique Black Forest Game Table, Center Hall Table Dining Table circa late 1800s
Located in Chicago, IL
Another selection from our vast collection of Black Forest furniture, is a beautiful small dining table or game table. Black Forest furniture is both, a bit rustic blended with a dose of whimsy. Our Black Forest table has as an option, (6) matching chairs that we will be listed separately, so please check for current availability. Black Forest items date from the late 1800s, although most people believe Black Forest originated in Germany or Austria, it was the Swiss who are the ones that invented the style from the City of Brienz. Originally, they carved small animal sculptures driven by the Tourist trade but ultimately started building furniture which has been highly collectible for decades. Somehow, we discovered a Collection of (42) pieces of original Black Forest furniture from a French Chateau, and every Black Forest item was placed in one huge room. The huge collection includes; chandeliers...
