Ashe Leandro

Original, Low-Key Luxury

Ashe Leandro specializes in designing residences that are refined, relaxed and rooted, yet very much of today. The firm’s ability to marry simplicity with sophistication is apparent in this primary bedroom in a converted factory in New York’s Tribeca. “The previous owner highlighted the building’s industrial past by painting its steel beams and brick white, which is how we kept them,” says interior designer Ariel Ashe (her partner, Reinaldo Leandro, is an architect). “I wanted the room’s focus to be on the rhythmic structure of the vintage Leonardo Fiori teak wall unit we found on 1stDibs and the spartan elegance of the Pierre Chapo–inspired bed made by Rob Pluhowski,” she continues. “But its standout feature may be the three-arm sconce we placed directly over the headboard. It was an experiment, and I think it turned out really beautifully.” That kind of instinct and love of surprise is what makes Ashe Leandro one of New York’s most sought-after firms.
