Charlap Hyman & Herrero

Wit, Rigor and Diversity

There are always rising stars in the design world, but only occasionally do talents have a meteoric ascent. Adam Charlap Hyman and Andre Herrero are among that rare group. Since establishing their bicoastal firm, Charlap Hyman & Herrero, in 2014, they have spun out interiors, buildings, stage sets, stores and products (including whimsical rugs for Schumacher) with a speed verging on the supersonic. If their projects are wide-ranging, what they all share is the wow factor, as exemplified by Charlap Hyman’s own Manhattan living room here. The mixing of a 1972 Klaus Uredat modular sofa and a rare 1969 Nicola L. l’Oeil floor lamp with a 17th-century Aubusson tapestry encapsulates the duo’s unconventional, yet oh-so-sophisticated design sensibility. “I feel that when you love every single thing in a room, there is nothing that won’t work,” says Charlap Hyman.
