Sheila Bridges Design, Inc

Courageously colorful and cosmopolitan

Through her bold, brilliant and ever-so-chic decorative meldings of the classic and the contemporary — think of her famed Harlem toiles — Sheila Bridges has become a design legend in her own time. Her singular gift for mixing styles, eras and moods is on full display in this rustic yet sophisticated Bedford Hills, New York, bedroom. She sets the homespun mood with Farrow & Ball’s charming Gable wallpaper, then elevates the aesthetic with a neoclassical painted French bed she found on 1stDibs and two French Empire mahogany bedside tables with white-marble tops and gilt-bronze pulls and mounts. Contemporary paintings and a pair of vintage swing-arm wall lamps from Ann-Morris enhance the relaxed yet refined ambience. “It was important that this bedroom be beautiful but also functional,” says Bridges. Mission accomplished.
