Geremia Design
Victorian Secrets

Taking its cues from the architecture and gardens of the neighborhood in which it sits, a Victorian house in San Francisco renewed by Geremia Design celebrates its past and looks toward its future. “Through the use of vibrant colors and bold patterns and textures, we intended to create a room lush with life that is spacious and full of art and character,” Lauren Geremia says of her design approach in the living room, whose formal proportions are contemporized by a mix of works from the client’s art collection and furniture by both mid-century and young designers. The latter includes a black wood coffee table commissioned by the client from sculptor Casey McCafferty, which is joined by a BDDW sofa and a pair of 1960s Guillerme et Chambron Jose chairs from 1stDibs that are in dialogue, says Geremia, with the more recent pieces. Among the patterns and textures she brought in are the Pierre Frey floral on the window seats, the boldly grained marble of the fireplace and the ridged-glass shades adorning vintage wall sconces.
