Fern Santini, Inc.
The Sky’s the Limit

With 22-foot-high ceilings and sweeping city views to work with, Fern Santini gravitated toward bold, timeless pieces for the living room of a client’s penthouse apartment in Austin, where Santini is based. “We strive to mix things together so that a space feels accumulated and will never date itself,” Santini says of her firm’s work. “Different periods, different aesthetics and precious and less precious are all elements that we love bringing together.” A pair of 1970s Vladimir Kagan chairs with Lucite bases, which Santini found on 1stDibs, seem to float just above the floor. Another 1stDibs Kagan find, a 1960s swivel chair covered in a dove-gray Rogers & Goffigon fabric, is more grounded. To temper the soaring ceilings, Santini selected Italian lacquered-metal and brass mobile chandeliers from 1stDibs; the brass is repeated in the 1970s Pierre Vandel side table and the hand-sculpted Masaya table. The saddle-stitched black-leather floor lamp, attributed to Jacques Adnet and sourced from 1stDibs dealer Morateur Gallery, “is one of my favorites,” Santini says. “It’s so beautiful and mixes with everything.”
