Studio DB
Outside In

“We have always loved the Eames House in L.A.,” says Britt Zunino, of Studio DB, which she and her husband, Damian, helm in New York. For their family’s weekend retreat, in the Hudson River Valley, they borrowed the modular volumes, expanses of glass and indoor-outdoor functionality of the Eameses’ Case Study House #8. “The idea of layering all of the textiles, plants and warmer wood textures within the context of a modern home feels really nice and freeing,” Britt says. “It is very personal.” In the living room, the couple gathered items that have resonated with them over time, like the Milo Baughman chairs they purchased on 1stDibs many years ago, recently recovered in an unexpected vintage Guatemalan embroidered textile. Opposite a white sofa by Lucidi Pevere is Britt’s favorite piece, the Costela sofa by Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner. “It’s my go-to spot,” she says. As in the Eames house, the walls of glass open completely to the outdoors. Here, they lead to a green roof on one side and, on the other, to an interior courtyard (“the core of our home,” Britt says) outfitted with Mathieu Matégot outdoor furniture.
