Beauty and the Beach
This traditional 1913 was rehabilitated to honor the architecture and reflect the homeowner's interests in gardens and surfing. The homeowner wanted a timeless space with well detailed furnishings that could endure frequent parties, two dogs, and the occasional barbeque sauce mishap.
This custom kitchen works overtime with dishwasher drawers, multiple spice nooks, walk in pantry and espresso machine. The locally made cabinetry and green soapstone countertops pair well with the homes original flooring and a recycled table. The homeowner's vintage surfboard hangs above the sunken bar as a reminder of the way things were; while the green soapstone countertops and a handy bar sink make the sunken bar a favorite entertaining spot.
Featured in the dining room is the homeowner’s collection of whimsical egg cups displayed in an original plaster arch. The dining room showcases an impressive coved ceiling, and the antique dining table is a “one of a kind” piece with winged horses, claw feet, inlays, and dentil molding.
The formal living room celebrates beauty and grace, and is outfitted in natural textiles. The glorious locally made limestone mantle was designed to pay tribute to the home’s Spanish roots while conveying the homeowner’s love of roses in an unforgettable way. Much of the living room furniture was salvaged from the old living room and refurbished. The chairs were reupholstered and the monkey side table’s glass top was replaced with more stately walnut.
