Central Park | Modern Penthouse

Featured on the cover of New York Magazine, this project was guided by two simple principles: to create a light and meditative space that provided a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life below; and to be mindful not to upstage the expansive views of Central Park and beyond. Some highlights are the Tord Boontje blossom chandelier from his first run of this now iconic piece, a pair of customized Vladimir Kagan sofas, and a printed and handpainted wallpaper taken from a digital photograph of the sky snapped from the living room windows. By utilizing lots of texture and varying shades of white throughout the main living areas - from matte wall paints that allow for easy touch ups, and hi-gloss ceiling paints to reflect the raking light, to slipcovers and upholstery fabrics that were easily cleaned like ultrasuede - the result provides definitive proof that it is possible to live in a cloud of your own making.
