This spacious West Village duplex proves that designing a home with small children can be elegant and comfortable. Using a neutral palette punctuated with moody hues, textural furnishings and custom details, we crafted a warm, modern atmosphere that works for today’s family.

The living room is divided into several seating areas that take advantage of the the floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping views of Manhattan. Contemporary upholstered pieces such as the wingback chairs and custom ottoman in navy velvet and dark walnut are a perfect balance of function and sophistication. Highlighting the double-high ceilings, a trio of sculptural chandeliers create a show-stopping focal point in the dining room. Another standout piece is the custom credenza in a deep purple high gloss lacquer with Lucite hardware and bronze feet. Thoughtful details such as the chevron patterned oak hardwood flooring unify the space. Delightful children’s rooms and playful elements such as a mohair fur stools, flying bird wall hangings, and iconic artwork keep the overall space light and imaginative.
