Shaun Othen is a contemporary figurative artist born in 1969 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. From an early age, he was introduced to a wide range of classical artists, particularly the works of Laurence Alma-Tadema and Alphonse Mucha. Captivated by their luxurious and elegant styles, Shaun has continued to draw inspiration from this aesthetic throughout his artistic journey.
Shaun attended the esteemed Falmouth School of Art, where he discovered his passion for figurative work. Working predominantly in oils, he pursued nothing less than photographic realism. After graduating, he signed with the prestigious Artists Partners Agency, and his commissioned artworks have since appeared on book jackets and high-end magazines around the globe.
In a conscious departure from the rigid structure of his earlier photographic style, Shaun has embraced a more expressive approach to his art. He often eschews traditional brushes, opting instead for various tools to articulate his vision.
