Kensington Apartment
The apartment in Westbourne Grove is defined by an unusual layout, and as with most new-builds lacks in storage and personal character. Our brief was to design around irregular angles whilst creating a spacious feel, but most importantly to challenge convention with bold and experimental design features and furnishings.
To develop an immediate illusion of open space we changed the dark floors and doors to a light oak. To enhance that illusion, the doors were redesigned to be full height accentuated by a slim architrave. Structural columns were incorporated into partition walls with niches to create a seamless interior.
Not afraid to take a risk, the client commissioned our designs which included; an all gold silk Moire lobby, a hand hammered brass kitchen, and a selection of statement furniture.
A more neutral sensibility was applied to the bedroom schemes with: muted tones, rich textures and diffused lighting. Detailed oak joinery increased storage throughout, and the master dressing room was expanded and redesigned with custom brass fittings. The bathrooms were fully redesigned to make use of lost space.
