Modernism at the Beach

Beach House de Scott Formby Design en Amagansett, NY

The incredible bones of this beach house—designed by the iconic 1960’s architects Barbara and Julian Neski—provided a clear jumping-off point in the design of its interiors. Modern at its core, the mission was to keep the clean lines of the home but warm the interiors so not feel as cold as a Hampton’s winter. Walls were painted a clear shade of white—but vintage rugs, art by Helen Frankenthaler, tapestries by Alexander Calder, and leather vintage Knoll couches warmed the interiors. Wallpaper was added in the primary bedroom as well the guest bath to add texture while still being respectful to the original architectural intentions of the house. The house has been featured in the New York Times and also graced the cover of Hamptons Cottage and Gardens magazine.
