Lincoln Center Penthouse

Apartment de Andrew Suvalsky Designs à New York, NY

Originally from Western Canada, the clients, who are very used to undertaking large residential renovations, were looking for their next big project. Among other career turns, he had been the CEO of a Fortune 50 company and overtime, both love of travel and places of work played a role in their current acquisitions: a sprawling mid-century modern home in Austin, Texas, a historic seaside 'cottage' in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, a compound on a private lake island north of Toronto, and a fully tricked out personal tour bus used to shuttle between locations. However, with so many places to call home what they really wanted was a mecca for family gatherings with their three grown children and grandchildren, all of whom live in and around NYC. They chose the Lincoln Center-adjacent Penthouse with stunning views from the Hudson to Central Park. The three-year full gut project (proverbially stripped down to the brick outer walls) resulted in the conversion of an awkwardly spaced two-bedroom pied-a-terr into a true home with four bedrooms, a gourmet chef's kitchen, a butler's pantry and wine bar and all the other amenities that make the space both super-glam and inviting to family.

The design features many pieces of art from significant and emerging American artists including Ansel Adams and Robert Kipniss. Other unique items, aside from many custom designed furnishings are two numbered and signed Armani pieces - a pill-box vanity and hand-painted whisky cabinet. A portion of their extensive wine collection was shipped to NYC and displayed in a wine bar inviting fun, lively celebrations.

While the family has always had an adventurous and flexible attitude toward moving wherever and whenever it made sense, they and their children now proudly call NYC their collective, shared home.
