Park Avenue Art Collectors
The clients, a retired businessman (he's the scion of a long-established New York family deeply involved in philanthropy, connected with the Kimberly Clark company) and his wife, are the inheritors and collectors of some very special pieces acquired from the 50's to present. The renovation and design could be called an "art collection in search of a new home". While these various pieces have been hanging in this Park Avenue apartment for many years, the prior design was dark and muted, with colors that pulled away from rather than allowing the full beauty of the art to breathe and truly shine. The new aesthetic was intended to be a mix of modern gallery meets vintage classics (e.g., see the all white LR vs. the warm woods and antique Louis Vuitton trunk in the Media Room.) Always interested in finding new pieces to add to the collection, the clients agreed that a design style not locked in one specific era would provide more opportunities for placement of new pieces.
