Pair of S11 Cabinets and Bar by Angelo Mangiarotti for La Sorgente dei Mobili

Informazioni sull’articolo

An extraordinary and rare pair of storage cabinets with integrated corner bar column from the S11 series, designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for La Sorgente dei Mobili in the late 1960s. This modular set can be placed either in a corner or flush against a wall and is entirely made of African rosewood with solid wood detailing. One cabinet features two drawers and an upper storage compartment with double doors. The second, more complex cabinet includes two drawers and a pull-out shelf with a rotating base, originally designed to house a television, allowing it to swivel freely and be repositioned as desired. Completing the set is a cylindrical bar column, also clad entirely in rosewood, with a circular black plastic compartment on top—ideal for storing ice and keeping bottles chilled. The set is in excellent condition, with no visible damage or significant defects. His career spanned across teaching, architectural projects, industrial design, and sculpture. A key figure in the Italian Modernist movement, Mangiarotti collaborated with many other notable designers and architects, leaving a profound mark on Italian design.
