Informazioni sull’articolo

Painting oil on canvas depicting a soldier handing the crown to Saint Joseph, measuring 76 x 61 cm without frame and 95 x 80 cm with frame by an italian School of the second half of 18th Century, near the works of Giovanni Domenico Molinari ( Vercelli 1721 - Torino 1793 ) . The colours used here, bright but cool with a predilection for blue and pink tones with bright hints of yellow, can be seen in many other works by the master such as the Apparizio della Madonna della Neve in Santa Maria della Neve in Mondelli or the Madonna del Carmine with St Sebastian and St John the Baptist in Rivara. It is above all the pastoral episodes that have passed through the antiques market that are most closely related to the present, as is the Saint Agatha in the Luigi Mallé Museum in Dronero.  The paintings in question are an important document of Molinari's best vein because they display a luministic impetus of brilliant skill; This is because the best part of our painter's activity is undoubtedly that which concerns portraiture of both people and objects, which he carried forward with constant commitment, achieving a peculiarity of manner that marks a significant phase in the development of the genre, with lucid anticipation of the executive finesse of the neoclassics, also due to a breadth of impasto and a perspicuity of definition that are all typical prerogatives of great Italian painting and of Molinari himself. We can find the same artistic sense present here in other works by the painter himself, such as the two works on the story of David in the Palazzo Reale in Turin, where a catalogue entitled ‘Exhibition of the Piedmontese Baroque. Painting - Sculpture - Tapestries. The paintings and works of art published here are my exclusive property and therefore are always available to be viewed, by appointment, in my exhibition sites located in Sanremo and Brescia. This item , like all our objects, is sold accompanied by a photographic certificate FIMA of authenticity and lawful origin; this document identifies the object by adding more value to the article. We take care and personally organize the packaging and shipping of our items with insurance all over the world. Mr. Riccardo Moneghini Art Historian

17th Century Myth of Diana and Ataeon Francesco Solimena Oil on Canvas Blu Red
Di Francesco Solimena
Painting oil on canvas depicting the myth of Diana and Actaeon measuring 110 x 130 without frame and 120 x 140 with frame by the painter Francesco Solimena. According to the myth, during a hunting trip, Actaeon provoked Diana's wrath when he caught her bathing with her companions in the shade of the Gargafia forest. The summer heat induced her to put on her clothes and cool off, interrupting the hunt. The goddess, to prevent the hunter from speaking about what he had seen, transformed the young man into a stag by spraying water on his face. The dogs, once they had devoured Actaeon, set out in search of their master throughout the forest, filling it with painful wails. Later they came to the cave of Chiron, who gave them an image of their master to ease their pain. Francesco Solimena, also known as L'Abate Ciccio, was a famous Italian painter of the late Baroque current. He was influenced in his conception of art by Luca Giordano for his creative and very scenic painting and Mattia Preti...
