Zura
Golden Kolkheti Chair

2020

Informazioni sull’articolo

ZURA (b. 1969, Georgian-American) Golden Kolkheti Chair Brass Seat Height: 16 in. Arms Height: 26 in. More than a chair — this is a throne of presence, a sculpture of command. The Golden Kolkheti by Zura merges the raw permanence of brass with the elegance of hand-forged design, resulting in a singular functional artwork. Cast and crafted entirely by hand, its geometric silhouette and timeless patina speak to power, patience, and precision. Every curve and angle bears the weight of intention — an heirloom not only of material, but of spirit. Whether placed in a private collection, architectural interior, or design-forward space, this piece is a beacon: of form, function, and legacy. Handcrafted by Zura, the Golden Kolkheti Chair blends ancient Georgian lore with bold, contemporary design. Sculptural. Iconic. One of a kind. Central to Zura’s artistic vision is the human form, often intertwined with animal heads—a compelling exploration of the primal instincts within human nature. His work captivates with its raw emotion, symbolic depth, and refined execution. In the spring of 2022, he captivated audiences during an exhibition in Williamsburg, unveiling a striking new series of works. Zura is a world-renowned artist celebrated for his powerful sculptures and paintings. His works grace public spaces across New York City, Atlanta, Georgia, and Connecticut, and are held in distinguished private collections, including that of American hedge fund manager Victor Niederhoffer. Born in the Republic of Georgia, Zura spent 14 years developing his craft before formally studying at the State Academy of Fine Art. He now lives and works in Brooklyn, where his Williamsburg studio serves as both a creative sanctuary and a teaching space, where he shares his expertise through sculpting classes. Zura remains deeply committed to his practice, guided by a philosophy rooted in beauty, love, and harmony.
