In “Lady in Red,” Shazia Imran conjures a stunning tableau of elegance and energy amidst a rain-kissed cityscape. Big Ben rises proudly in the distance, its golden face softened by a misty ambiance, while the foreground bursts with movement and depth. A striking figure in crimson—a recurring motif in Imran’s work—anchors the composition, her vibrancy cutting through the cool greys and muted tones of the rain-washed pavement. The artist’s play with light, seen in glistening reflections and warm glowing streetlights, creates a mesmerizing visual rhythm.
Imran uses loose, impressionistic brushstrokes to paint the bustling crowd, capturing the momentum of pedestrians navigating the rain-drenched streets. Each figure remains faceless, allowing the focus to rest on the lady in red, whose poise exudes a quiet confidence. The reflections beneath her feet mirror the vitality of the scene, while the red hue evokes passion and strength, standing in stark contrast to the somber mist.
This painting celebrates the quiet heroism of urban life—the resilience of individuals against the backdrop of weather and routine. Imran’s composition brims with grace, pulling viewers into a contemplative and uplifting moment. “Lady in Red” is an extraordinary work of art, poised to bring sophistication and warmth to any collection. Now available for acquisition at Signet Contemporary Art in Chelsea and online.

“Art and design is something I’m very passionate about. Use of colour, shape, texture and light defines my style in capturing the personality and emotions of the subject.
My inspiration and influence comes from everything I see, feel and experience around me. The delicately multilayered paintings I create, explore the connections between landscape, memory and the subconscious through texture and the interplay of light and dark, creating an atmosphere that opens itself up to multiple meanings.
My recent body of work is based on the mandala – representing the wholeness and unity of mankind. Representing the universe itself, the mandala is both microcosm and macrocosm and we all are part of it. No matter what region, race or religion we belong to, we are all same we are all humans.”- Shazia Imran
