Rare Battuto Murano Glass Catchall or Centerpiece Italy 1960

Informazioni sull’articolo

Extraordinary and rare Murano glass catchall or centerpiece, handcrafted in the early 1960s using the sophisticated battuto technique — one of the most intricate and labor-intensive methods in Murano glassmaking. This piece is crafted from deep azure blue glass, ground to a thickness of 5 cm, and meticulously finished with a hand-hammered texture along the edge. The battuto process involves striking hot glass with a hammer to imprint a tactile, shimmering surface — a mark of masterful craftsmanship and control. The substantial thickness of the glass allows for exceptional depth and refraction, producing mesmerizing light effects and reflections. In perfect vintage condition, free from chips or cracks. Only minimal wear is present underneath, consistent with age and gentle use. Dimensions Diameter: 20 cm (7.9 in) Height: 4.2 cm (1.65 in) Glass thickness: 5 cm (1.97 in) Please note This item is in outstanding vintage condition with no chips or damage. Slight signs of wear on the underside, appropriate for its age. Its luminous depth and textured edge make it an exceptional piece of Murano artistry. Rare Sculptural Gaetano Brass Floor Lamp by Luciano Frigerio, Italy 1960
Di Luciano Frigerio di Desio
Extraordinary and exceptionally rare sculptural floor lamp, model “Gaetano”, designed and produced by Luciano Frigerio for Frigerio di Desio in the late 1960s. This piece belongs to the celebrated “Scultura 99” collection, a limited edition of 99 sculptural artworks conceived by Frigerio as functional art objects. Each one is numbered, signed, and entirely handmade using solid brass, cast and shaped with exquisite craftsmanship. The Gaetano floor lamp is composed of massive brass sculptural elements, with significant weight and presence. The form is both architectural and expressive, embodying the unique artistic language of Frigerio’s modernist brutalism. It is signed by the artist and comes with its original certificate of authenticity issued by Frigerio’s heirs. The piece is in excellent vintage condition, with only minor signs of age consistent with its 50+ years. Please note: the lamp is sold without the lampshade shown in the photos. Please note: This item is in a very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age may be present but do not affect its functionality. We kindly ask you to consider these characteristics prior to purchase. Luciano Frigerio (1928–1999) was an Italian master designer, sculptor, and craftsman known for his visionary approach to functional art. Rather than following minimalist trends, Frigerio imagined furniture as sculpture — creating unique or limited-edition pieces in bronze, brass, and solid wood, produced with artisanal precision and deeply influenced by fine art. He worked with major architects and designers such as Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, and Sergio Asti, and transformed the family workshop into an internationally recognized design house. His “Scultura 99” and “Ultrabronzo” series represent some of the most collectible and sculptural expressions of Italian postwar design. Frigerio’s work has been exhibited in Milan’s Galleria del Sagrato and “Art Gallery” on Via Montenapoleone, and today remains highly sought after for its artistic strength, rarity, and expressive craftsmanship. About Scultura 99: “Scultura 99” is one of Luciano Frigerio’s most iconic artistic projects — a curated series of only 99 sculptural objects, each produced in limited edition and marked with authenticity and number. These works push the boundary between design and sculpture, making each object a collectible statement piece for connoisseurs and design collectors worldwide. Rare Coupé Bed Frame by Mario Bellini for Cassina, Italy, 1976
Di Cassina, Mario Bellini
Rare and elegant “Coupé” daybed or bed frame designed by Mario Bellini and produced by Cassina in 1976. This piece features a minimal yet sophisticated structure, defined by soft lines and harmonious proportions. The design conveys a sense of lightness and elegance, with gently curved shapes outlining the headboard and side panels. The structure is upholstered in a light-colored fabric — likely linen or raw cotton — tightly fitted around the frame, highlighting the clean aesthetic. Leather-trimmed seams and exposed zippers serve as both functional and decorative elements, allowing the piece to be disassembled with ease and showcasing its refined craftsmanship. The wavy silhouette of the headboard and sides creates a welcoming, cocoon-like effect, almost embracing the sleeper within. The piece rests on discreet black feet, elevating it just enough to enhance its floating, airy presence. The mattress support consists of a tight mesh metal base, ensuring breathability and ergonomic comfort. It is designed to fit a standard European single mattress (80 × 190 cm). The Coupé bed’s clean and timeless design makes it suitable for both classic and contemporary interiors, whether in a bedroom or a sophisticated living area. The name “Coupé” references horse-drawn carriages — reflecting Bellini’s desire to link elite design with historical memory and everyday life. The piece will be shipped disassembled to reduce transport costs. Please note: This item is in a very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age may be present but do not affect its functionality.
