Hong Kong Duplex Apartment
The first home for an actor couple who commissioned London based design studio Waldo Works to create a home crafted by their own view on life.
Initial conversations led to them exploring their love for minimal spaces, Japanese Craft and tactile handmade objects, with the brief to create a suite of private spaces on the upper floor, and below a whole floor for entertaining. The interior scheme is ordered and balanced, a layered and calming environment creating a place to retreat to, that giving the owners a space in which to step out of the spotlight.
The main architectural element draws upon traditional Japanese joinery design. A single large scale but intricate timberwork box element slots between the two floors, and contains a detailed central timber, brass and leather staircase and quietly lit panelling.
