My role in this project was to provide a comfortable retreat in high summer and remodel the house to offer an elegant living space that works year-round, celebrating the stunning vistas from every window. The interior contains a palette of neutrals spiked with blues, lilacs, silver-greys, creamy gold and terracotta. The large hall is open and airy with a beautiful Linley round table as a focal point, which leads to an open-plan dining and drawing room area. The kitchen is a cool and calm place to retreat thanks to the original ceiling beams and low arches that divide the working area and pantry from the table. We kept it simple and practical, with plenty of storage in the form of built-in refrigerators, pantry cupboards and wine racks. For the master bedroom, the aim was to keep it simple whilst injecting a fresh vibe into the traditional French style. We hung Pierre Frey cream fabric, embroidered with floral motifs, as curtains on the windows and from the coronet above the bed.
