New York Triplex

di Newick Architects a New York, NY

This is a triplex in a row house site with 6 condominium units stacked on top of each other. Because of the row house proportion and the very tall height, light only enters from the front street windows. Modulating the glare and bringing the light deep into the interior was a principle goal. We conceived of floor to ceiling louver panels in a barely-blue resin that screen the lightwell windows and cut the interior glare. The louvers give a visitor the sense that they are gazing out across the Aegean. The light is soft and subtle and transforms the experience of living in the City.
