ROMAN A CLEF
BONHAMS AUCTION
ROMAN A CLEF
Studio Hus was asked by Bonhams auction house to curate their important modern art and furniture auction. Together we conceived ‘Roman a Clef’, an immersive conceptual environment based of an imagined mid-century gallerist.
Working with the developers of Linear City Group, we secured a penthouse apartment in their iconic Elysian building, a 1960s architectural landmark designed by William Pereira and had been recently converted to modern live/work lofts which we designed. From there we set off to curate a home environment where auction goers could come and experience the pieces in a living environment with everything being available for sale through the upcoming auction. The joy in combining such important and unique pieces from creators and artists Billy Al Bengston, Andy Warhol, Gio Ponti, Piero Fornasetti, Jean Pouve and Pierre Jennereat and others was such a fun and playfully creative experience.
