Timeless Tudor

A family of three moved from an apartment in Hoboken to a lovely but old-fashioned Tudor house in Montclair, New Jersey in 2021. We aimed to breathe new life into their home while still honoring the traditional architecture. We thoughtfully selected which elements to keep (like the beautiful woodwork, kitchen floor, and cabinetry) and which elements to replace (the fireplace and the entire primary bathroom). Using the high-contrast kitchen floor as our jumping off point, we created graphic yet timeless spaces that both harmoniously flow together and stand apart. The whole-home project includes a foyer, a custom surrealist bench with metallic resin created by Mazza Collective, a gray mirror installation inspired by Sol LeWitt, powder room, living room, sunroom featuring a cantilevered window seat, kitchen, dining room, primary bedroom, primary bathroom, and office.
