Wildflower Farms

Hotel di Electric Bowery LTD. a NY, US

Wildflower Farms (Auberge Resorts) blends Swiss and Dutch design traditions with a modern approach, inspired by Peter Zumthor and California architects like Mickey Muennig. The buildings are designed to frame the mountains and integrate seamlessly into the site. The material palette establishes a direct connection with nature, deviating from traditional Hudson Valley architecture. These natural materials provide a backdrop for a curated interior design collection.

The site plan and structures are designed to showcase the natural surroundings. The holistic architecture creates an experiential narrative, immersing guests in nature and revealing views of the Shawangunk Ridge at the Great Porch, the heart of the main building complex. The design incorporates meandering paths and discoverable moments inspired by the original tree farm.

Electric Bowery's founders, Cayley Lambur and Lucia Bartholomew, draw inspiration from Frank Gehry's early housing design, creating a harmonious "village" of structures. The Bower Cabins, Cottages, Suites, and amenity buildings form a cohesive whole with an adaptable architectural language. The design emphasizes indoor-outdoor living with tall storefront glass, weathered wood-clad ceilings, and fin walls. The palette includes natural materials like stacked stone, slate, weathered wood finishes, and oxidized Corten steel, blending with the landscape while conforming to modern architectural lines. Kebony's character-grade wood and Madera Surfaces' repurposed oak cladding, along with textured slate tiles and mottled plaster wall finishes, contribute to the project's warm and varied aesthetic.

Wildflower Farms embraces a fusion of architectural traditions, natural materials, and immersive design, offering guests a unique experience in harmony with nature.
