Hunt Slonem
Hunt Slonem "Lincoln Black & White" Portrait Oil on Wood Framed Painting

About the Item

"Lincoln Black & White" is a framed oil painting on wood by Hunt Slonem, depicting President Abraham Lincoln amid a striped monochromatic background. This piece is finished in an antique frame, which has been hand-selected by the artist for this painting. The frame may feature imperfections and symptoms of wear, but please note that this "patina" is intentional and preferred by the artist. Please inquire with the seller if you have additional questions. About the artist: Inspired by nature and his 60 pet birds, Hunt Slonem is renowned for his distinct neo- expressionist style. He is best known for his series of bunnies, butterflies and tropical birds, as well as his large-scale sculptures and restorations of forgotten historic homes. Slonem’s works can be found in the permanent collections of 250 museums around the world, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Slonem was born in 1951 in Kittery, Maine, and his father’s position as a Navy officer meant the family moved often during Hunt’s formative years, including extended stays in Hawaii, California and Connecticut. He would continue to seek out travel opportunities throughout his young-adult years, studying abroad in Nicaragua and Mexico; these eye-opening experiences imbued him with an appreciation for tropical landscapes that would influence his unique style.

"Jumpers" is a framed oil on linen on panel work by Philip Buller, depicting abstracted figures engaged in ice-skating and skiing. Buller's painterly approach to these Wintery subjects, as well as the repetitive, echoing composition evokes the nostalgia of vintage home movies or layered photography film. Pricing includes the pictured frame. The unframed dimensions are 65 X 80 inches. About the artist: Philip Buller was born to American diplomat parents in Delhi, India in 1954, but spent his youth mostly in northern Virginia and his ancestral home...

The artwork is a mixed media piece that incorporates acrylic paint and oil on canvas. At first glance, the artwork appears to be a chaotic mess of lines and colors. However, upon closer inspection, the piece reveals a deep and thoughtful exploration of the hidden aspects of the human experience. The painting is dominated by a large central figure, which appears to be a representation of the human form. The figure is twisted with its long neck and round ears of lines and colors. The figure's face contorted in agony. Chidebe's artwork is a poignant exploration of the hidden aspects of the human experience. The twisted and contorted central figure suggests the pain and suffering that many people experience in their lives. The surrounding calm suggests the confusion and disorientation that can often accompany difficult experiences. The patch of blue...
