Vintage 6 Florentine Handcrafted Silver and Luxion Crystal Glasses from R.C.R
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Linear and essential table service composed of six drinking glasses; the glasses are enriched by a solid silver mount, executed by hand lathe in an excellent way, in fact, the upper edge is obtained by turning the silver plate on itself, and, towards the base, a sturdy step was created that underneath was then folded over the base of the glass itself; this was done to wisely reinforce the whole mount so that it is integral with the body of the glass; also aesthetically the glass has a sober, elegant and clean line. From the punch, stamped on the silver part, it can be seen that the glasses were made between 1980 and 1985 by the Florentine silversmith and craftsman Cecconi Valerio, his workshop was located in Bagno a Ripoli, on the outskirts of Florence (Italy), the firm closed around 2000; he specialized in making crystal objects assembled with silver; he researched unique, original and special crystals for his items, and executed the silver supports with art and technique, creating high-quality objects. Also for our glasses, artisan Cecconi wanted to use a particular crystal produced by the company R.C.R. (Royal Crystal Rock...

Antique Millefiori Vase with Handles, Fratelli Toso Murano ca. 1910
Located in Berghuelen, DE
Antique Millefiori Vase with Handles, Fratelli Toso Murano ca. 1910 A small millefiori murrine glass vase in an unusual rare shape with two handles. Manufactured by Vetreria Fratelli Toso, Murano around 1910. Made of polychrome murrines (purple, green, red and white) which were melted together. Surface with acid etched matte finish. The vase is an authentic example of early 20th century Murano art glass. It was part of a large Fratelli Toso glass collection with over 600 pieces - collected since the 1970s. Fratello Toso was one of the leading art glass manufacturers of Murano in the 20th century. In the early 1900's Fratelli Toso started to produce glasses in murrine technique. Murrine and Millefiori glasses remained a major product field of Fratelli Toso. In 1912 a very successful series of liberty inspired art glasses, designed by Hans Stoltenberg Lerche...

Antique, New and Vintage Glass

Whether you’re seeking glass dinner plates, centerpieces, platters and serveware or other items to elevate the dining experience or brighten the corners of your living room, bedroom or other spaces by displaying decorative pieces, find an extraordinary range of antique, new and vintage glass on 1stDibs.

Glassmaking is more than 4,000 years old. It is believed to have originated in Northern Mesopotamia, where carved glass objects were the result of a series of experiments led by potters or metalworkers. From there, the production of glass vases, bottles and other objects proliferated in Egypt under the reign of Thutmose III. Later, new glassmaking techniques took shape during the Hellenistic era, and glassblowing was invented in contemporary Israel. Then, on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy, modern art glass as we know it came to be.

Over the years, collectors of glass decorative objects or serveware have sought out distinctive antique and vintage pieces of the mid-century modern, Art Deco and Art Nouveau eras, with artisans such as Archimede Seguso, René Lalique and Émile Gallé of particular interest for the pioneering contributions they made to the respective styles in which they worked. Today, long-standing glassworks such as Barovier&Toso carry on the Venetian glasswork tradition, while modern furniture designers and sculptors such as Christophe Côme and Jeff Zimmerman elsewhere test the limits of the radical art form that is glassmaking.

From chandeliers to Luminarc stemware, find a collection of antique, new and vintage glass on 1stDibs.
