1950s Mathieu Matégot Red Perforated Metal Magazine Rack

About the Item

We are very pleased to offer a distinctive magazine rack from the 1950s, designed by the renowned Hungarian-French designer and material artist, Mathieu Matégot. A celebrated figure in mid-20th-century design, Matégot was acclaimed for his innovative use of materials, particularly his pioneering work with metal. This magazine rack is a prime example of his ingenuity, showcasing the lightweight, yet sturdy construction characteristic of his work. Crafted from perforated metal, a signature material that Matégot manipulated using his unique "Rigitulle" technique, this piece embodies the playful forms and organic aesthetic that distinguished his designs from the more rigid structures of the period. The magazine rack has been meticulously restored with a vibrant red automotive paint, enhancing its durability and adding a modern twist that complements its original design. In excellent condition and ready to be used for years to come. Please see all attached pictures.
