Early Edition of "Superonda" Sofa for Poltronova, circa 1966

About the Item

The Superonda sofa by Poltronova, a result of collaboration with Archizoom Associati, stands as a quintessential emblem of Italian design. Conceived in 1967 by the radical Florentine collective Archizoom, this innovative sofa boldly breaks away from the confines of traditional furniture. Its groundbreaking design centers around two sculptural waves meticulously carved from a block of polyurethane, ingeniously shaped into an elegant S-curve. These modular components interlock and stack with remarkable flexibility, offering a myriad of configurations, be it a sofa or an impromptu bed. Adorned in sleek, glossy white faux leather in this rendition. Manufacturer: Poltronova circa 1966. Bibliography: - Ch. & P. Fiell "1000 Chairs" Taschen Publishers - Cologne 1997, a similar model depicted in color on page 474 - Poltronova Backstage, Fortino Editions 2016, pp. 54 - 59
