About the Item

One fountain at the mountains III, 2018 Pencil and ink on paper. Unframed His work has been shown in Reina Sofía Museum of Madrid, Royal Academy of London, Arco Madrid, Pinta Art Fair, London, London Art Fair, The Other Art Fair, London, and in numerous art galleries from London, Madrid, Barcelona and Paris. This work is part of Forest and mountains series. Francisco plays with the landscape creating situations or changes, through the introduction of strange forms to the naked eye, with which he creates atmospheres, let's say unreal, because like Magritte, Francisco wonders what or which, is the reality. He creates mysterious atmospheres added to those already existing in the forest or in the mountain, the geometric forms are interrelated with the organic forms of nature, which in reality are the same, because according to the Pythagoreans, any body has its origin in geometry. We could say that nature in this case shows its beginning or origin, which would be equivalent to its soul. Francisco's work, is also characterized by mixing, or rather uniting concepts opposed to each other at first glance, but based on scrutinizing, observing and analyzing them has proven that they are not so different from each other

  • Circle Drawing: 10 Layers
    By Carali McCall
    Located in London, GB
Circle Drawing: 10 Layers, graphite on paper with gouache, gold and silver, by Carali McCall (2019). Consisting of a collection of durational-drawing artworks in which McCall draws with graphite on paper for hours at a stretch, these time-based works have been compiled and then carefully measured to explore the depth and sculptural means of drawing materials. Each layer is hand-cut in the shape of a circle, unveiling and superseding the work that came before. As cutaways, excitingly, this new work advances the elaboration of McCall’s contemporary art practice. In new condition. The artwork has been recently framed in walnut with non-reflective museum glass. Signed by the artist on the rear of the work. About the Artist: Carali McCall is an emerging artist whose works are internationally recognised. A Canadian born in 1981, she is based in London, UK. McCall was awarded a PhD from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London, and her work is featured in the upcoming publication by Bloomsburg Publishing, 'Performance Drawing: New Practices since the 1960s'. A finalist in the 2017 Jerwood Drawing Prize, McCall’s work is currently touring the United Kingdom and is situated in private and public collections curated alongside artworks by Picasso and Damien Hirst. Other notable exhibitions include: Again and Again and Again: Serial Formats and Repetitive Actions, Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada, (2012), Kenny Schachter’s Rove Gallery, Hoxton Square, London (2008), Folkestone Fringe Festival (2014), Woolff Gallery, London UK (2017) and EMPIRE II...

  • Carali McCall, Work no. 1 (Circle Drawing) Gold/Red, 2hours 24minutes, 2018
    By Carali McCall
    Located in London, GB
'Work no. 1 (Circle Drawing), Gold/Red, 2hours 24minutes, 2018’ graphite on 315 gsm Heritage Fine Art Paper by Carali McCall (born 1981). McCall began her ‘Circle Drawing' artworks in 2004 where she focuses on the durational element and physical process of drawing. Using graphite on paper she draws her full arm's length in a continuous circular motion to the point of complete exhaustion. During this physically demanding process, her position and ability to extend the arm diminishes to the extent she can no longer hold the graphite. McCall quotes, 'an important aim is to maintain a constant and continuous visible line that embodies time and energy. While performing, painfully, my entire body is noticeably putting effort into the drawing.' This intense action and durational element often cause the paper to fatigue and rip, which is often identified as her distinctive trademark. In McCall’s new addition to the series, materials such as Gold and Gouache are used to treat the surface and bring another layer of reference to important art historical processes. The combination of these new materials and grand scale of this practice, make McCall’s work particularly striking. By Carali McCall
    Located in London, GB
'Work no. 1 (Circle Drawing), 1hour 30minutes, 2017’ graphite on paper by Carali McCall (born 1981). McCall began her ‘Circle Drawing' artworks in 2004, during her final year at art school in Toronto, Canada. Using graphite on paper she draws her full arm's length in a continuous circular motion to the point of complete exhaustion. McCall continues to focus on the durational element and physical process of drawing; however, her earlier works are rare as she now only performs for live audiences at certain events. During this physically demanding process, her position and ability to extend the arm diminishes to the extent she can no longer hold the graphite. McCall quotes, 'an important aim is to maintain a constant and continuous visible line that embodies time and energy. While performing, painfully, my entire body is noticeably putting effort into the drawing.'
