About the Item
Unique large scale mixed media assemblage featuring a three dimensional, textured handmade paper scroll unfurling to reveal an abstract expressionist watercolor painting with gold accents, by Madeline de Joly (American, b.1943). Mounted on linen with no frame. Some minor age toning to paper. One horizontal tear 3", repaired on one of the folds. Image size: 40"H x 52.5"W.

Provenance: Purchased from the artist Circa 1996.
Madeline de Joly was born 1943. Originally from New York, Madeline earned a BFA (Painting) in 1964 from Rhode Island School of Design; a BA (Art History and Printmaking) in 1980 from University of California, Santa Cruz; and is continuing her education in Vedic Science, Advanced Studies in Consciousness (begun in 1975) from Maharishi International University, USA, Europe and India.
Madeline de Joly as had more than a dozen solo exhibitions and has participated in dozens of group exhibitions. She has held numerous professional positions as an instructor and lecturer nationally and abroad, and has published more than a dozen articles. She has been interviewed many times on radio and television.
