Unknown

About the Item

A fine watercolour scene by genre artist George Sheridan Knowles (1863-1931), depicting a warm hearted moment between a mother and daughter. The young girl has been caught by Knowles, on her knees, consoling her mother in front of a warm open fire. The table is laid for tea, but know one else looks to be joining. This may be the reason behind the mother's sorrowful reaction. Signed to the lower right-hand corner. The endearing painting has been well presented in a large wash-line mount and toned gilt frame, with decorative running pattern mouldings. This Painting was previously exhibited at The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and listed at Christie's auction house. On paper.
