About the Item

Pigs on a San Francisco Trolley - Vintage Illustration A two-page spread in India ink pen and watercolor by Irene Pattinson (American, 1909-1999), shows a charming San Francisco street scene in which an anthropomorphized pig is racing to catch a moving trolley, grabbing hold of another pig's hand ready to pull him on. The trolley's route reads "Washington & Jackson Sts," crossing Powell and climbing uphill. The pigs are in newsboy caps and bowties. Their clothing, as well as the other passengers on the trolley, characterize the early 1900's. Signed in the two places, "Irene Pattinson." Presented in a new white mat with foam core backing.
