The picture "Desire in Red" portrays two individuals, a man and a woman, standing closely together with their bodies almost touching. The man's hand is outstretched towards the woman, but it remains motionless, as if something is holding him back. The woman is turned away, appearing to be in a different emotional space. This piece explores the complex nature of closeness and desire in relationships.
The vibrant red background of the painting intensifies the emotions depicted, as red is often associated with passion and love. The ambiguity of the figures' situation leaves room for interpretation and multiple possible outcomes. Will the woman turn around to meet the man's gaze? Will his hand make contact with her body, conveying tenderness and intimacy? The word "desire" encapsulates the depth of emotions and longing portrayed in this artwork.
"Desire in Reds" is a unique print created using my own technique on Fabriano graphic paper, and colored with acrylic paint.
