About the Item
Charlestown is a port which is situated on the south coast of Cornwall in England in St. Austell bay. It was originally a small fishing village made up of 9 pilchard fishermen and later became an important port for the transport of China clay. The harbour was bought by the Square Sail company in 1994 to dock sail ships. The Harbour and its ships have been used for the scene and background for such TV hits as Poldark. In this painting I have manage to capture a couple of the square riggers and a few car rooftops on the hill in the background, giving it the sense of a modern village living in a time warp.
