About the Item
A luminous landscape depicting a scene of traditional Plains America-Indian culture, masterfully rendered by David Sanders (1936 - 2013) in pastel on paper. The picture captures the golden hour of sunset on a snowy scene of grassland. Four, stately teepees stand as the main subject. The focal point lies with a foreground teepee, illuminated within, from a campfire. Signed and dated, lower right.
The image measures 30 x 40 inches. The piece is beautifully framed and ready to hang in a gold leaf picture frame with the overall measurement of 39 x 48.5 inches.
David Sanders was a Texas artist who lived in Austin until his death. Sanders' paintings were done with remarkable talent and detail. He had an amazing ability to capture the character of early Texas and the spirit of the Cowboys, Indians and Texas Rangers who are predominant in his works. His art portrays the beauty of Texas and her proud heritage. Working mostly with pastels, Sanders brought to this medium the depth and rich coloring of an oil painting.
