An elegant figural coastal scene showing a view of a morning volleyball game in progress on the sandy beach off 8th Street, Laguna Beach. A delicately painted and atmospheric work by this award winning California watercolorist and muralist. Signed lower right, 'David Solomon NWS', dated 1981 and titled 'Easy Winds, 8th St. Laguna Beach'. David Solomon first studied at the Los Angeles Art Center design school and practiced as an architectural designer before retiring to focus on fine art. He is the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards including two prizes from the National Watercolor Society. He has exhibited nationwide including at the National Academy of Art (New York) and the Festival of Arts, Laguna Beach where his work has been shown for 33 consecutive years. Solomon's work is held in the permanent collections of national museums including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. and the National Watercolor Society. Additionally, he was the designer for the Laguna Beach City Logo and the first artist to be commissioned by Laguna Beach's Pageant of the Masters in 1980.
