About the Item
French Impressionist watercolour on paper of a road and buildings leading to a chapel in a landscape by Henri Clamen. The painting is signed and dated bottom left and titled bottom right.
A charming painting of the 12th Century Church of Notre Dame Del Bois at Buisson in the South of France. The church is famous for its magnificent views. A road leads up to it passing old farm buildings and wending its way through the trees. Clamen has captured a beautiful view of the South of France. Clamen's light, free, impressionist style and his use of colour gives a vivacity and movement to the composition. A little jewel of a painting.
Buisson is a small, wine-producing, Knights Templar village, dating back at least as far as the 12th century, and linked since its beginning to the nearby village of Villedieu, with which it produces its principal crop, Côtes-du-Rhône wine, which is sold from their joint winery, le Cellier du Templier.

The day was a great experience with sparkling light on the water and the sounds of the water over rocks.
