Tom McCobb began focusing on his watercolor painting in the early 1980s in Connecticut and continued to paint with success after moving to New York where he became a member of the Cazenovia Watercolor Society and started teaching at workshops. McCobb has exhibited with success throughout New York, including at the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors.

Ejnar Hansen studied at Copenhagen's Royal Academy of Art before moving to the United States in 1914 and settling in Pasadena in 1924. An ardent proponent of modernist color theory, Hansen became an influential teacher at the Chouinard School, the Otis Art Institute, the John Muir College, and the Pasadena School of Fine Arts.
