About the Item
A lovely original watercolor of a cottage by the sea, showing a fisherman draping his nets over the porch rail to dry. I would guess this to be early 20th century. It came out of a New Orleans estate but without identifying information, and if there is a signature it is covered by the mat. Rendered in wonderful gentle greys and earth tones. The outer mat show a space between the frame so if this bothers you, you might want to have a new mat cut. The frame is a nice gilt plein-air wood frame. Dimensions given are with frame; without frame, watercolor is 14" x 21".
