Carlson, 1985 Very good condition Sheet size: 8 5/16 x 11 3/4 inches Poterlet, Pierre Saint-Angeunlocked French, 19th century, male. Born 28 October 1804, in Épernay (Marne); died 11 June 1881, in Paris. Painter, draughtsman, pastellist. Landscapes, waterscapes, architectural views. Pierre Saint-Ange Poterlet, formerly confused with his cousin Henri Louis Hippolyte Poterlet, studied at the École de Dessin, Épernay, and then in Paris under Cicéri. From 1836 he taught at the Municipal School, Épernay and became head of the town's drawing school in 1838. In 1840 he travelled widely in the Boubonnais and Auvergne regions of France, bringing back many drawings and paintings of churches and landscapes with lakes or rivers.
